EVOLUTION OF NAGALAND CANCER SOCIETY (NCS)
(Branch of Cancer Detection Society of India " CDSI")
  Cancer Detection of India is a charitable National Organization . It has its branches all over country.N. E. States are considered to be the rich belt for cancer incidence. The Society has done a massive work in this area for Cancer Control through its branches and Cancer Detection Camps which are regularly being organized in this region.
  The Camps were conducted by Dr. Suraj Verma, President Cancer Detection Society of India. To achieve the aims and objective of Nagaland Cancer Society (NCS) as a branch of Cancer Detection Society of India (CDSI) was necessary. Therefore, on 12 June 2001 on t--he occasion of first cancer detection camp at Wokha NCS was announced and inaugurated by Shri A. Wopen Lotha. ADC Wokha.
  The Nagaland Cancer Society (NCS) is legal and legitimate representative of Cancer Detection Society of India. The NCS and any person posing the office bearer will have no legal status and official letter from Registrar of Societies Govt. of India is being sent to Dy. Commissioner of Kohima of nd other concerened cities to check and control the illegal collection of funds as well as activities in the name of NCS and CDSI.
  The report of the various cancer detection camps held in the month of june 2001 is being kept with the head office as confidential documents.
The cancer incidence is 1:1000. The reported figure is amazingly high which may surprise you. But then possibly, it is because the camp was announced for cancer patients, therefore, only old and suspected cases reported for checkup which justifies the reported figure.The sucess of cancer detection camps lies on publicity and awareness, which motivates the masses.
The fear of being detected cancer in Tobacco, Paan & Alcohol users in one of the factors that such facilities are not availed by them. We claim to give better success of cancer prevention if diagnosed and treated early.
The cancer control is a continous process through the various awareness programmes which Nagaland Cancer Society plans to launched shortly in a massive way.
  The follow up cancer check-up camp is being organized in the month of Jan . 03 under the patronship of Shri N.P.Putsure Dy. Commissioner Kohima, Nagaland
